Instructions:
Prepare the apples: Wash the apples thoroughly to remove any dirt or residue. You can peel the apples if you prefer a clearer juice, but it's not necessary. Simply remove any damaged or bruised areas.
Core and chop the apples: Cut the apples into quarters or smaller pieces, removing the cores and seeds. If you have an apple corer, it can make this step easier.
Optional: Prevent browning: Apples can oxidize and turn brown when exposed to air. To prevent this, you can either sprinkle a little lemon juice over the apple pieces or briefly soak them in a mixture of water and lemon juice.
Boil the apples: Place the apple pieces in a large pot and add just enough water to cover them. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer the apples for about 20-30 minutes or until they become soft and tender.
Mash or blend: Once the apples are soft, you can either mash them with a potato masher for a chunkier juice or blend them in a blender or food processor for a smoother consistency.
Strain: To extract the juice, strain the mashed or blended apples through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean container. Press down on the apple pulp to extract as much juice as possible. You can repeat this step if you want a clearer juice.
Cool: Allow the apple juice to cool to room temperature.
Serve: Pour the apple juice into a glass and serve it chilled. You can add ice cubes if you prefer it cold.
Enjoy: Sip and enjoy your homemade apple juice. It's a pure and natural drink with no added sugars or preservatives.
You can adjust the sweetness of your homemade apple juice by selecting sweeter apple varieties or by adding a touch of honey or sugar during the boiling process if needed. Homemade apple juice is a refreshing and healthy beverage that can be enjoyed on its own or used as a base for other fruit juices and cocktails.
