2 to 3 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup)

1/3 cup melted butter or vegetable oil

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg, beaten

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans) or chocolate chips

Instructions:

Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Mash Bananas:

In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. The bananas should measure about 1 cup when mashed.

Mix Wet Ingredients:

Add the melted butter or oil to the mashed bananas and stir until well combined.

Mix in the granulated sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.

Combine Dry Ingredients:

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in a dense loaf.

Add Optional Ingredients:

If using chopped nuts or chocolate chips, gently fold them into the batter until evenly distributed.

Transfer to Loaf Pan

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

Bake:

Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

If the bread starts to brown too quickly on top, you can loosely cover it with aluminum foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.

Cool and Serve:

Once baked, remove the banana bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.

Transfer the bread to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Serve slices of banana bread warm or at room temperature, and enjoy!
