Instant Pot Haleem Recipe

1 cup broken wheat (Dalia)

500g beef or boneless chicken, cut into small pieces

1 cup split Bengal gram (chana dal)

1 cup split red lentils (masoor dal)

1 large onion, finely chopped

2 tomatoes, chopped

4-5 green chilies, chopped

1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste

1 teaspoon turmeric powder

2 teaspoons red chili powder

1 teaspoon garam masala powder

1/2 cup cooking oil or ghee

Salt to taste

Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Lemon wedges for serving

Water as needed

Instructions:

Rinse and soak broken wheat, Bengal gram, and red lentils separately for about 30 minutes.

In an Instant Pot, add soaked lentils, broken wheat, beef or chicken pieces, chopped onions, tomatoes, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, salt, and enough water to cover all ingredients.

Close the lid and set the Instant Pot to Manual mode for 25 minutes on high pressure.

Once the cooking cycle is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes, then manually release any remaining pressure.

Open the lid and use a hand blender or a masher to blend the mixture until smooth and creamy.

In a separate pan, heat oil or ghee and fry the mixture for about 5-10 minutes to enhance the flavors.

Serve hot, garnished with fresh coriander leaves and lemon wedges.
